Happy Halloween

Here are some pictures of our little pumpkins from today. See my facebook page for more!

Since you probably won't recognize who Carter is, I'll have to tell you that he is Ben 10, a character on Cartoon Network. This has been his infatuation lately, so I'll tell you the story of his costume. When he asked for it, I searched on-line and ordered the costume from Costume Express. They called and said it had been discontinued. I continued my search and couldn't find it anywhere except on Ebay for $60, which I refuse to pay--especially for this costume which only consists of a t-shirt and cargo pants. So, being the crafty mom that I am (not!), this was my best attempt at making it. It turned out pretty good. So, we bought him the Omnitrix (Ben 10's gadget) to wear, too. Cooper is Woody, from Toy Story.

I thought my pumpkin carving skills were actually nice, too, if I must say so myself!

I took the day off to spend with Cooper at his preschool. My friend, Holly and I passed out candy there. This evening, we met our friends, the Branscomes, back at the church for Trunk or Treat and a hot dog supper. Afterwards, we walked around our neighborhood with the Gooch family. The kids got enough candy for several hundred children, as usual. But, we had some family time and fun with our friends and that's all that matters!

New Candidate...

I am so sick of hearing about John McCain and Barack Obama. To be perfectly honest, I'm not crazy about either of them. Voting is a personal opinion, just like whether you like pizza or not and I choose not to share my opinions on here. Whoever wins, this is history in the making.

A good friend of mine gave me a beautiful silver bangle bracelet for my birthday that reminded me of a very important message: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Therefore, it doesn't really matter what I think or even who wins because God is in control. He always has been, still is today, and always will be! He is ultimately the only President I care about and who cares about me, the only one who doesn't tell lies and make empty promises to get ahead, and the only one I'll choose to follow. He won't be here for just the next 4 years, or 8, but for eternity. How could I possibly put my faith in anyone else?!?

With that being said, on a lighter note, we've decided to endorse a new candidate for Presidency...

VOTE FOR MR. WUF!
I'm Renee Pollock and I approve this message.

Happy Birthday, Collin!

We had yet another whirlwind weekend! We started off with soccer on Saturday morning, then from there, headed to Collin's 4th birthday party at Putt-Putt in High Point. Collin is my friend, Jill's son. We have been friends for about 15 years, since college. She, her husband Todd, and their children, Kelsey and Collin, are wonderful friends of ours and we are so blessed to know them! It was a fun party! See pictures below. Then, be sure to scroll down to see what else we did this weekend (Ivan's party and the Maize Adventure!)

After Collin's party, it was off to Reidsville for Ivan's 16th birthday party...

Sixteen candles...

My nephew, Ivan, celebrated his 16th birthday on Thursday. We had a big family party for him on Saturday. It's hard to believe that he is 16! It seems like just yesterday when I was heading off to college and he was born! Now, he has outgrown us all! He is such a good kid and we're all so proud of him. I just had to write him a poem to commemorate this event! I'm really proud of my big sister for planning such a special party for him! And yes, his name really is Francis Ivanho St. Cyr Thompson IV, just like it says on one of his cakes!!! The other one represented stages of his life with pictures of him at various ages. When I called him on Thursday to wish him a happy birthday, I asked him how it felt to be 16 and he said overwhelming. When I asked him why, he said b/c he had pretty much gotten everything he wanted. I said, "and that's different from when???" Ha! Ha! He already had a truck so he got a sound system for it, new tires, new golf club, clothes, and other various things for the truck, and lots of money! See, he's also an only child and his parents have a wonderful marriage and have been married for 20 years!

After a fun-filled Saturday, there was more to come on Sunday...

Maize Adventure

We went to the Kersey Valley Maize Adventure today with our friends, Wende and Cayden. We all had a blast and captured some really cool pictures! We rode the Tram Train, walked through the corn maize, played in the dinosaur dig, jumped on the jumping pillow, picked out pumpkins, and ate yummy cotton candy & kettle corn! There's actually a huge corn maize that's about 4 1/2 miles long, but that's too much for the little ones, so luckily they had a smaller one, too! This is an awesome place, as you can see below!

Fright Night

Halloween came early at our house this year...

I wake up at 6am every morning and I'm the only one up until Carter gets up at 7am.

This morning, after my shower, I went into the kitchen to eat breakfast...

The kitchen light was on. I just assumed that Cooper turned it on in the middle of the night when he woke up crying.

I also noticed that the back door was unlocked. Again, no big deal, since some irresponsible person in our house tends to leave the doors unlocked often. That's a whole other issue in itself!

I sat down to eat and noticed that Raleigh was acting crazy. I heard something fall in the laundry room and just thought that he knocked something over.

After a few minutes, I heard the door stopper behind the laundry room door, you know that "boing" sound that it makes. Now, I'm getting concerned. I hear it again.

My heart is beating very fast as I get up, go over, and turn the laundry room light on. I notice that the laundry room door is not open all the way so I try to push it open and not only does it not go all the way to the wall, it comes back to me! As scared as I am, I try it again with the same results.

As terrified as I am, I decide that I'm going to peek in the door crack. After letting out a gentle scream, I realize that it's only.................

Carter, my lovely son, who woke up early and was scared that I'd be upset with him for getting up so early (only b/c he's just like his mom and gets ill when he doesn't get enough sleep!) so he decided to hide from me and in the process, scared the living daylights out of me!

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth had the cutest Candyland party with lots of goodies and fun things to do for all of the kids! Happy 4th birthday!

Happy Birthday, David!

Happy Birthday to my husband, David! Since he has the same birthday as our niece, Elizabeth, he got to celebrate with a Candyland party! He did get his own cookie, though and dinner out at J. Butlers Bar and Grill!
