Swimming lessons

The boys have been taking swimming lessons for the past 2 weeks and are doing very well! Here's some pics of their progress. Well, Carter is learning to dive and to do the backstroke, but Cooper is pretty much just learning how to move around in the water.

STRIKE!

We went bowling with Jill and Collin. We had a great time! One of the gifts I had received for Teacher Appreciation Week was a FREE pass for 2 hours of bowling, shoes, and a pitcher of soda. So, we thoroughly enjoyed it all! I happen to actually really like bowling and I would love to go more often if we had the time. Cooper's favorite part, of course, was the shoes! He had to have 2 different pair while we were there! Yes, he still has a serious shoe fetish!

Happy Birthday, Grandmommy!

We celebrated Grandmommy's birthday at Camp Guilrock again this year. Unfortunately, my pictures were terrible again, but I think I have since figured it out and fixed it. Anyway, the kids had a good time although they seem to be a little tired of the water at this point. Since we all have pools to go to now and the beach fairly often, I guess they've had their fill. But, I think Grandmommy enjoyed her birthday anyway simply because she was able to share it with us! So, happy birthday to our wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother! Thanks for being so generous, loving, and dependable!

Happy #40, Charles!

My only brother, Charles, celebrated his 40th birthday with a surprise party at Courtland Park in Reidsville. Wendy did an excellent job of planning and keeping secrets! He was very surprised! It's hard to believe that my big brother is 40! Wow.....that can only mean one thing......since he's 5 years older than me, I only have 5 more to go!!!

I hope he doesn't mind me telling this, but he started getting into trouble when he was about 13 years old. He started hanging around the wrong crowd and continued to make bad decisions for the next 20 years. One day, he decided to completely turn his life around. He became a dedicated Christian, started his own very successful painting business, bought a house right beside of my dad (which made Daddy very happy), married Wendy (along with Chase & Jamie), had his precious daughter Macy, and hasn't looked back since! This was one of God's true miracles that I have witnessed in my lifetime!

Happy birthday, Charles! I'm so proud of you and I love you so very much!

Our Master Bedroom

Well, I have one more room done (sort of!) Since we've moved here, I've painted our bedroom and recently got new bedding. Today, my uncle came and hung our wooden blinds, new curtain rods, and drapes. You can't tell in the photo, but the print over our bed is a Yellow Labrador (like Raleigh) laying on a bed! As always, there's more that I'd like to do. Eventually, I'd like to get darker furniture with NO footboard (I hate those!), bigger lamps, and a new chair or have the existing one reupholstered since it doesn't match. But, for now, here's the finished product!

Beach Trip 2008

We just returned from our annual week-long Pollock Family Beach Trip! It was nice to get away and relax. We pretty much did the same things that we always do: dig holes in the sand; swim in the pool, hot tub, and lazy river; read; shop; eat; sleep; relax; play putt-putt; catch fish and crabs! Cooper surprised us and did very well in the water! He always has before, but for some reason, he's been scared to get in the big pool this year. Carter's favorite thing to do this time was to throw football in the pool. He found a college-aged buddy to play with!

We went to Broadway to eat dinner and the kids rode the rides there. Carter and DD went to play putt-putt one day. Besides going out to eat and shopping, that's about all the outside entertainment we did this time. We just enjoyed being lazy!

I had a frozen water bottle in my beach bag with my camera, so it got cold. That's why my pictures aren't so great. If you're interested in seeing some better and different ones, go to the Fisher's blog or either to my snapfish link, both to the right of this page. The Fishers' got a new camera with the colored filters, so they got some adorable pics! I love it! Next on my list...a new camera!!!

Happy 4th of July!

We went to the pool today for lots of family fun. The Burgesses came and spent the day with us. There were lots of games and activities like a water balloon toss, splash contest, greased watermelon contest, relay races, volleyball tournaments, treasure dives, and hot dogs!

Since we couldn't go see fireworks, we decided to stay home and play in the rain instead!

We're off to the beach tomorrow for a week!

Homeland Creamery

We took a day trip to Homeland Creamery last week with our friends, the Burgesses. We saw some farm animals, took a hay ride around the farm and toured the milking station, fed a baby calf, milked a pretend cow, and best of all, sampled their yummy ice cream!
