Pollock Family Reunion & Pool Party

Every year, we get together with David's extended family on his dad's side for Christmas. But, his aunt and uncle just built a new house, which is absolutely fabulous, by the way...AND, they have a pool! So, it was decided that instead of getting together for Christmas, we'd wait until the summer to have a pool party instead. We were all very happy with this decision! It gave the kids, all 11 of them, something to do and who doesn't love sitting by the pool and talking to loved ones?

Happy Father's Day!

UNC-Greensboro

I finally got around to taking the boys to visit UNC-G, where I went to college. We went with the Burgesses. Jill was the first person I met there and it's also where she & Todd met. I remember sitting in class and looking around to see who looked like they might make a good friend for me! Little did I know that she was doing the same thing...when she walked in, she saw me & sat down behind me because she thought I looked like a good friend! As it turns out, we've been friends for 16 years! So, it holds lots of fond memories for us!

The kids actually had a really good time. Their favorite thing was this computerized thing on the wall where you can manipulate with your hands. It looks like bubbles or rain coming down in different colors. You can see here that it looks like they're catching it in their hands!

UNC-G water tower:

This is "The Rock" where the Sociology club paints messages to the students!

They enjoyed seeing all of the athletic fields. Here they are with our mascot, The Spartan!

They especially enjoyed our lunch at the famous Yum-Yum's! It is one of those little hole in the wall restaurants that has been open since 1906. They sell hot dogs and ice cream and it is delicious! It only cost $6.80 for the 3 of us to eat lunch...but then we got ice cream, too! Yum-Yum!!!

Our Garden

I'm so proud of my little garden! I've always wanted to plant one and I finally did it this year! It's very small...I only planted cucumbers, tomatoes and zucchini because those are my favorites and the ones we eat the most. The boys have enjoyed helping water it and they go out to look everyday to see if anything has changed. Imagine their surprise and excitement when we found this:

Our Family Photos are Here!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some of the results of the photo shoot that we had with Chris and Jen Hunt! They're fabulous photographers and I highly recommend them! They live in Charlotte, but they will travel to the location of your choice. You can check them out at www.jenhuntphotography.com!

Great Wolf Lodge

We took a mini-vacation to the new Great Wolf Lodge in Concord last week! This place is incredible, as David says "state-of-the-art!" Sad to say, our room was much nicer than our room at Grove Park Inn! We're talking granite countertops & flat screen tv's & more space! We only spent one night, but that was plenty of time...all of the water makes you exhausted!

The indoor water park is the main attraction, of course...it's huge & loads of fun. Funny...Carter, who's 8, was scared of the bigger water slides but Cooper, who's 4, cried because they wouldn't let him ride! He was about a hair of an inch too short. But, not to worry, there was plenty of other stuff for them to do! There was an area with small water slides and activities that were perfect for Cooper and another Fort area with larger water slides that was perfect for Carter, not to mention the activity pool, lily pads, wave pool, and the one outdoor activity pool.

Besides the water park, there's putt-putt, a huge arcade that's bigger than Chuck E. Cheese, an out of this world room called Gr8 Escape with flat screen tv's (one large enough to cover the entire wall & laptops, a hotel virtual game called MagiQuest, and much more! There's a Pizza Hut, Dunkin' Donuts, and several other restaurants, grilles, and sweet shops! In other words, you don't have to leave for anything! You can just stay in your swimsuit the whole time & enjoy yourself! In the lobby, there's a clock tower & they provide a show. Then, they read a bedtime story & the kids get to meet Wiley Wolf himself!

We had a fabulous time and plan on making it an annual event for us! I highly recommend going...check it out at www.greatwolf.com!

Last day of school!!!

School's out for summer!!!!! Carter had his awards ceremony this morning. He received awards for A Honor Roll all year, Perfect Attendance all year, and a Terrific Tiger award! We're so proud of him!

Carter's Baptism

Carter was baptized at church Sunday evening...here he is in the baptismal pool with Pastor Michael. I stayed up there with him so I could get a good shot! We're so proud of his decision to follow Christ!

Sleeping Beauties

Cooper wanted to sleep in the sleeping bag the other night in the living room floor. So, sure enough, he did! Here he is with his protector!

Summer:

These are my favorite things about summer:

1. Sleeping late
2. Lazy days
3. Having both of my boys at home with me all day
4. Fresh fruits and vegetables (watermelon & tomato sandwiches mostly)
5. Oh yeah, and sleeping late!
6. Shorts and flip-flops
7. Green grass, trees, & beautiful flowers
8. Fun times with friends
9. A little color to my otherwise ghostly skin
10. No school or permanent schedules
11. The POOL and the beach
12. Did I mention sleeping late?

Ok, so I LOVE summer...everything about it! This is absolutely my favorite time of the year! I love the feel of it from the bright colors that people wear to the easiness of our days! I am truly a different person in the summer. In the winter, I'm a hermit and it's hard to get me to do anything. I know that I'm seasonally depressed and I should really see a doctor about it. But, in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy every second of this!

Of course, our summers have grown to be almost as busy as the rest of the year, but it's all fun stuff! We are looking forward to swimming lessons, soccer camp, football camp, basketball camp, free movies, days at the pool, vacation at the beach, day trips and fun activities with our friends and family! We can't wait for our first big event......we're going to the new Great Wolf Resort and indoor waterpark in Concord this week!

So, you might hear me say that it's HOT, but you won't ever hear me say that I can't wait for winter!

Family Photo Shoot

David's friend and college roommate, Chris, and his wife, Jen, have an outstanding photography business! They came to Greensboro last week to take some pics of us and the Fishers! You can get a sneak peek at www.jenhuntphotography.com, under the "Cousins" link! I can't wait to share all of them with you as soon as we get them!

Confluence Coffee

I met my old friend since elementary school, Mara, and her daughter, Avery, at Confluence Coffee today for a rainy day playdate! It was fantastic to catch up again! That is the coolest place! It's owned by a church and the profits go to a worthy cause. It has an indoor playground for the little ones! You can check it out at www.confluencecoffee.com!

A little water fun....

Cooper and his friend and neighbor, Lucas, had fun playing in our new sprinkler that shoots balls up into the air!

Last day of Preschool

Cooper is done with preschool until the fall. They had a big party to celebrate! He didn't even want to go home with me....he loves his teachers, Mrs. Jamie & Mrs. Shannon, and his friends.
