Happy Anniversary!

Well, David and I celebrated our 10th anniversary on Friday, March 27th! As life would have it, we didn't plan anything for the day because the kids were out of school for a teacher workday and Carter was supposed to have a soccer game, not knowing that it would get rained out. Cooper still had soccer pictures, so afterwards, we waited until Daddy was done with everyone's pictures then we all went out to dinner together as a family to Poncho Villa's. David and I will be looking forward to our anniversary trip to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville this coming weekend, another rare and precious gem, since this will be our first trip ever without the kids!

Today, Saturday, was a rare and wonderful day for us as a family! Since all sports were rained out, David got the day off, which next to never happens! Basically, the only time we get to spend with him is on Wednesday nights and Sundays. I had not signed up to work at our church event today because David would've normally been working...I worked on Wednesday night instead. So, this was the first day in a very long time that we had absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go!!!! We decided to spend some much needed quality time together. We went to the YMCA. The boys played basketball while I walked and ran, yes I did say "ran" around the gym! I desperately needed the exercise. Then, we all went swimming for awhile. Even though I feel REALLY guilty for not being at church today.......what a treasure this day was! So, if that's what it takes to have daddy home every once in awhile, then "Jesus, bring the rain!"

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here are my little leprechauns enjoying green kool-aid and shamrock cookies in their green shirts on our driveway!

*****I was WAY behind on my posting, so make sure you check out the next 5 posts!

Hope Lives

Our church is having an event on Saturday, March 28th called Hope Lives. It's for families in the community that have lost their jobs due to the economy. We're offering free car washes, salon/spa treatments, information/advice on all sorts of things, boxes of food, school supplies, and clothes!

Our church bulletin had a flyer with a food list that had been priced at Aldi's for the food boxes. I have never been there, but I went today to get the food for the boxes. On my way in, an older lady offered me her cart. I looked in my purse for a quarter to give her, but I didn't have one. So, she told me that I'd just have to get my own! Ok.... So, I had to go in the store to get change. When I was done and going to return my cart, another older lady was getting ready to get a cart. I offered her mine and told her she could have it for FREE! She was absolutely adamant about giving me a quarter and wouldn't let me leave until she did, even after I insisted that I didn't want her to pay me!

Snow Days

We enjoyed another beautiful snow! How lucky are we to get 2 in one season?!? The boys were so excited that once the snow started falling and sticking, they put their cold weather gear on over their pj's and went outside before bed! We had a fabulous time being out of school and playing in the snow! We got about 4 inches or so, which is alot for us! We also made snow cream, which is a family traditon of mine! Yum! Yum!

Sleeping like a baby...

One night, Cooper fell asleep in the living room. We tried to wake him up to get him to use the bathroom, but he was extremely ILL and wanted no part of it. I left him in my bathroom screaming and when I returned a minute later, this is how I found him:

...fast asleep on my bathroom floor!

Upward Basketball 09

We decided to try something new this year and let Carter play basketball through a program at our church called Upward. I had never heard of this sports program until we moved here, but it is actually all over the place and consists of soccer, basketball & flag football. I really liked it and Carter enjoyed it, too. His team was called the Gators and David and our friend, Mike were his coaches. Carter had several friends on his team and also made several new ones. The reason it's called Upward is because it's Christ-centered. The teams are small, which gives them more playing time. Each week, the kids receive a different colored star that can be ironed on their shirt. The stars represent qualities like Christ-like and defense, etc... You'll see Carter's in the picture where I ironed them on in the shape of a cross! My favorite part was that before each game, it's played out like a real game...they introduce the players on the microphone, have their name on the big screen, and the players run out onto the court (see video below)! They even have a smoke machine going! That was so much fun! At the end, we had an awards banquet with all the big inflatable slides and stuff. They each received a backpack, too! The kids had a blast!

Happy Birthday, DD!
