Welcome Back!

Today was the first day of school for Carter. I can't believe my firstborn son is in 2nd grade and will be getting actual grades this year! WOW! Here's the traditional first day picture and one of his new backpack (Wolfpack, of course)!

New camera!

We got a new camera...YEAH! We copied the Fishers and the Burtons and got the same one they have! There were a couple of other ones that I reviewed on-line and considered, but I'm always scared to make a big purchase so I feel better going with something that I know someone else has and is happy with. Most all of the ones I researched had an equal amount of positive and negative feedback so I guess it's just luck of the draw. I'm still trying to figure it out, but here's a couple of pics I took of Macy at Alexis's birthday party. My favorite features are the 3" screen, the color filters, and the ZOOM!

Happy Birthday, Alexis!

My niece, Alexis, had a High School Musical birthday party at the park on Saturday. She is 7 years old!

I NEED PRAYER....

I am in desperate need of prayer! We have a 3 year old who is out of control. I have been working on potty training all summer and he is still not completely potty trained. He refuses to poop in the potty. He does things that Carter never dreamed of doing at his age. He tells me no, tells me I'm so mean, talks back, won't clean up, won't listen or obey, and his newest things are running from us and being mean to other kids.

On the flip side, he is the most loving child in the world. He hugs and kisses me thousands of times a day, tells me he loves me, instantly says he's sorry without being told if he accidentally hurts someone, uses his manners...all of those things that is like pulling teeth to get Carter to do, which shows how different they are.

For example, we were at Dan Nicholas park last week and they were playing on the playground. I looked up just in time to see Cooper about to push a little girl off. She came within inches of falling off of the equipment. I climbed up onto the equipment after him and he ran down and continued to run probably about a 1/2 of a mile from me. Needless to say, I was livid and we made a trip to the bathroom!

He has run from me in the grocery store, in the neighborhood, and from David in Lowe's.

Yesterday, he punched a little girl in our neighborhood in the eye!

Today, we went to McDonald's and the kids were playing on the playground. Imagine my surprise when I heard all the parents and kids talking about a little boy in an orange Star Wars shirt being mean to all the kids up top. Guess who? Cooper! I was mortified! I immediately got him down and took him home to receive yet another "reminder," timeout, and toys taken away. How embarassing!

Where do they learn this stuff?!?

I've found that there is nothing of value to him that will make a difference. He doesn't care if he gets spanked, goes to timeout, or gets his toys taken away. So, I'm at a loss as to what else to do with him. Nothing seems to work. I am to the point of tears. This is not how I've raised him to be. I will welcome any and all suggestions or ideas and most definitely, prayers!

PLEASE HELP!

May the force be with you...

Here are the boys on the day of seeing the new Star Wars animated movie, "The Clone Wars." Notice the lightsabers and the Yoda shirts that glow in the dark! It's been Star Wars mania around here since their birthdays in the spring!

Prayer requests

Well, my first 2 days of work went very well. I really like our new principal alot. She is very nice and organized and seems to have it all together. She had biscuits, fruit, chocolate, and drinks for us on Monday and took all of us out to lunch on Tuesday! The best thing is that she prays before each of our meetings! That makes me so happy because that is exactly the kind of leader I need! I'm off today and Friday and then the real schedule begins next week!

Anyway, one of my prayer requests is for my new principal. She is expecting her 2nd child and will only be at school for the first week and then will be on maternity leave for 6 weeks. On Monday, she received a call about her dad and one of our teachers had to drive her to where she needed to be because she was so upset. Her dad is in need of a lung transplant and is not doing well. So, please pray for her (Kim Loflin), the upcoming delivery of her baby, and her dad.

Also, we have a new 4th grade teacher this year who was there on Monday, but not on Tuesday. We found out that is because she has had cancer in the past and it has now returned so she was having a chemo treatment. She is only in her early 40s and has 2 daughters. The cancer has spread to her lymph nodes, lungs, and other places so the situation doesn't look good. But, her faith is strong and her outlook is positive. Please pray for her...her name is Martha Martin.

Our secretary's church makes prayer shawls so she brought 1 for each of these ladies to school yesterday. We all gathered in a circle and passed them around for each of us to pray over. That was something I've never experienced...it was extremely moving and powerful! You know Jesus said when 2 or more are gathered in his name.....

Heigh, Ho, Heigh, Ho....

It's back to work I go! Life as I know it is over! It's not that I mind going back to work. It's just that I'm such a night owl and I've been staying up until midnight and sleeping until 8-9am, so 6 am is going to come really early in the morning! I also dread getting back to a fast paced routine and schedule.

So much for lazy days of summer...those kinds of days were rare, but enjoyable when they came. I had a wonderful summer and hate to see it end. I get seasonally depressed when the cold weather hits and I become a hermit. Anyway, we did lots of fun things this summer and I was able to get together with almost all of my closest friends at least once.

Our summer was fun-filled with: the NeedtoBreathe concert with Tiffany, Dan Nicholas Park with Tonya and her kids, Pump it Up with Wende and her kids, Chuck E. Cheese with Kelli and her kids, dinner with Jill and Christy, dinner with my cousins, crops with my scrapbookin' friends, several family birthday parties, free movies each week with friends, lunches with friends, pool with Mason and Jill and her kids, library storytimes with Heather and her kids, play dates with Holly and her kids, bowling with Jill and kids, dinner with Heather, church activities, VBS, soccer camp, basketball camp, beach, trips to Reidsville, all sports camp, swimming lessons, basketball games...I'm sure I've left someone or something out and if so, I apologize! And, oh yeah, I read THIRTEEN books this summer! Just know that we had a great time everywhere we went! We are blessed to have so many friends and we enjoy being with each and every one! Thanks for such a wonderful summer! Now, all I need is "more time..."

We are Family...

Lisa, Mary, Me, & Sandra

We had our annual cousins reunion on Tuesday night. Only a few of us were able to come this time. Some had to work, some were at the beach, and some had kid duty! We missed them, but we still had fun. We ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant and reminisced for hours!

Dan Nicholas Park

We went to Dan Nicholas Park today in Salisbury with our friends, Tonya, Spencer, and Ava. We love this place! There's 4 different playgrounds, putt-putt, train, carousel, petting zoo, gem mine, splash pad, paddle boats, aquarium, and animal wildlife park! There's so much to do!

Tonya and I were friends in high school. During college, we went our separate ways and lost touch for awhile. We found each other again after David and I got married. Then, between both of our moves to different cities, we lost touch once again. Fortunately, I ran into her at WeeRuns last month and discovered that she lives in High Point! So, we are back in touch again and hopefully for good this time! Today was the first time our kids have gotten together. It was as if they've known each other all along! They bonded instantly! Carter was the oldest so he was so sweet holding the little ones hands and helping take care of them (I was truly surprised at this!) Spencer thought Carter was the greatest thing ever so I think Carter enjoyed that! They all had so much fun together!

***Make sure you move the mouse over the pics as they pass through if you want to see the captions!

Chuck E. Cheese

We met our friends from Shelby, Kelli, Padgett, and Joseph Webber at Chuck E. Cheese in Concord yesterday. It was so good to see them! The kids played so well together as if they've never even been apart!

***On a side note, my camera is obviously NOT fixed! You can tell by the terrible quality of all of the pics in this and the other recent posts. I thought I had fixed it, but evidently, it's not something I can fix. I'm very close to breaking down and getting a new camera! That is one thing that I can NOT live without!

Shootin' Hoops

Carter is playing in a summer basketball league. Of course, Team Wolfpack. David is his coach. He is having a great time and playing very well, scoring right many points each game. During one game, he shot a LONG shot at the buzzer at the end of the 3rd quarter and MADE it! The look on his face was priceless!

Happy Birthday, Laurie!

David's little sister is 30! Here's a few pics from her party on Saturday.

Pump it Up!

We went to Pump it Up on Friday with our friends, Wende, Cayden, and Holland. Afterwards, we ate lunch at Pita-Delite...yummy! We all had a great time, as usual!
