Beach Bums

I went to Myrtle Beach for our annual Scrapbooking getaway this past weekend. It was fabulous! I'm still in detox. While we're there, Debbie takes unbelievably good care of us! She cooks every meal and provides snacks, too. She doesn't let us lift a finger and she waits on us hand and foot! We don't even have to clean up after ourselves! We arrived Thursday night and I was so tired that I only completed one page that night. We just ended up hanging out and watching ER. On Friday, we went shopping and took a walk on the beach. I got a little bit of work done that evening. Saturday was my most productive day. We all stayed up until around 2:00 in the morning each day talking and giggling like school girls! So, sleep is the one thing I didn't do much of! Eat and gain a few pounds was what I did the most of! Some would say that's a good thing, but I tend to disagree! Especially since noone there calls me by my real name...they all call me "Skinny Minnie!"

I was ready to see the boys on Sunday evening, but I was exhausted and was looking forward to a good night's sleep. Well, so much for that...Cooper woke me up around 3:30 AM and threw up the rest of the night so I ended up staying up and even went on to work for just a little while (oh, the joys of having a job!) Welcome home, Mommy!

May the Force Be with You!

Cooper is hilarious playing Star Wars on the Wii!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Rare as they are, snow days are the best! Too bad we were already out of school today anyway! We had a blast playing out in the snow with our friends and neighbors!

Christmas in January

We had yet another wonderful family get together on Sunday with David's Aunt Mary Lou. We had lunch and she always picks out such great gifts for the kids! They each got $40 plus a gift. Carter got an Erector building set and Cooper got a backpack set with sleeping bag, flashlight, and water bottle. It was a huge hit! Elizabeth got one, too so they walked around with them on their backs all afternoon. They even pretended to be Star Wars characters carrying their weapons on their backs! Thanks, Mary Lou!

New Year's Day

We got together with Aunt Nancy & Kelly on New Year's Day. The kids exchanged gifts. Carter got 2 Webkinz, which he absolutely loves...not so much for the stuffed animal part, but for the games and things you can play on the computer. He plays on there every day! Cooper got a Planet Heroes toy, which is one of his new obsessions. We had a wonderful dinner and time with family!

2 years...

Wow...I can't believe it's already been 2 years since we left Shelby! My, how time flies! It's funny how quickly you get attached to a place and the people and things there. Shelby was a great place to live and I made some of the best friends I've ever had there. But, even though we were there for 5 years, it never really felt like home to me. Being 2 1/2 hours away from all family, having 2 little ones, and a husband who works all the time probably wouldn't make anyone feel much at home. I prayed for years that David would get a job closer to home and in God's time, he did! I miss my friends, but fortunately, we've been able to keep in touch and visit. I don't know what we'd do without the technology that we have today. I have just as quickly adjusted to my life here in Thomasville and I LOVE it! I love the convenience of the location, my friends, our neighborhood, our church, Carter's school, etc...! So, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to all of my friends, old and new for making the transitions in my life a little easier! I miss you guys in Shelby, but I'm very happy here!

Washed by the Water...

Carter has been asking lots of questions about being baptized, so we've been talking to his teachers at church and reading and talking about it at home since Christmas. As we were doing that, Cooper said that he wanted to be baptized. I told him that he was too little right now but that we would keep talking about it and he could later. So, he said "Ok, I'm going to wear my floaties!"

Happy New Year!

I was listening to the radio yesterday and they were talking about New Year's resolutions. They said that you should start out making resolutions that you can actually keep. They gave some great examples. So, here's mine:

This year, I resolve to:

*eat more chocolate
*sleep in on Saturdays
*make more time for my friends
*enjoy my precious boys every second that I'm with them
*walk even closer with God
*treasure my blessings and be grateful for each and every one
*spend more time with my family

Now that gives me lots to look forward to! Happy New Year! So, what's yours?

NC State Bowl Game

David, Carter, Grandmommy & DD went to the NC State vs. Rutgers Papa John's Bowl in Birmingham, Alabama. Unfortunately, Wolfpack lost, but a great time was still had by all. I think Carter enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool the most! They also had lots of activities around for the kids and State fans. Here's some pics from their special trip. A bowl game at 7 years old...WOW!!!

Blasts from the Past!

One of my high school friends planned a wonderful get-together for us before Christmas. We met at Monterrey's in Reidsville, had dinner, & talked forever. It was just like old times. We've all sort of kept in touch over the years through e-mail, our high school reunion, family, friends, each other & now facebook! What would we do without the technology we have today? I sat at the end of the table and as I looked out at the other girls, I realized that they still didn't seem like "thirty-somethings" but the same good friends that I've always had and hopefully always will! Time may move on and we all may change, but in some ways, we remain the same.
Happy New Year, everyone!
